#HyperDocs are Going Microsoft!
Share Post
HyperDocs are an incredible way to create student-facing digital lessons. They are the gold-standard for blended learning and make the perfect companion to online and distance learning.
Most are created using Google, but it is time the became they became all the rage for Microsoft users too! Students everywhere will be better for it.
What is a HyperDoc?
A HyperDoc is a student-facing digital lesson plan you create and package using Microsoft Word or OneNote. When curating resources for a HyperDoc, the emphasis is on pedagogy and meeting individual student needs. A Hyperdoc requires a teacher to do a full lesson design and embeds the 4 C's (collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creativity as part of the lesson design. Hyperdocs allow students the agency to go through the learning at their own speed and in their own way.
These blended learning experiences are packaged in a way that is organized, attractive and supports the curious spirit of the learner.
Is a Hyperdoc just a doc with links?
A document with links is not a Hyperdoc, it is a Multimedia Text Set - and while it is super useful - this is not a full HyperDoc. A MMTS (multimedia text set) can be created to allow students to explore content and can be a meaningful learning resource.
A Collection of HyperDocs
Here are collections of both multimedia text sets and grade-specific Hyperdocs to get you started. These are done in Google Docs so if you find any you like, just simply go to File --> Download -->Microsoft Word. You can then open the newly created Word doc. Adjustments might be needed.
